I crocheted some cute earrings featuring tiny bananas and apples for my sister.

I made those apples from scratch

the bananas are derived from a free pattern I googled after seeing a similar banana here on craftster. Here's the pattern: http://chezmichelle.vox.com/library/post/baby-banana-amigurumi-pattern.html

My sister now requested shrooms and pears, I guess I have to keep crocheting  Roll Eyes

That's what I did. I came up with this shroom:

It reminds me of my old nintendo games Smiley The picture is not too great though, the pink cheeks are hardly visible.

I attempted a pattern for the shroom. It's my first pattern ever, so if you spot any mistakes, feel free to contact me and I'll change it : )

Tiny shrooms

You need red and white yarn (embroidery floss is fine), a 1.25 mm crochet hook, and black and pink thread for embroidering the facial features.

Do not join rounds.

Start with red yarn:

Ch 2
R1: 6sc in second ch. from hook
R2: 2 sc in each sc around (12)
R3: (1sc in 1st sc;  2 sc in 2nd sc.) six times (18)
R4-R8: 1 sc in each sc around
R9: (sc 2sc tog.) nine times (9)

stuff the shroom's head and switch to white yarn

R10-11: sc in each sc around (9)
R12: (2sc in 1st sc, 1 sc in next sc) four times, 2sc in last sc (14)
R13-14: 1sc in each sc around (14)
R15: (sc 2 sc tog ,1sc in next sc) four times, sc last two sc tog. (9)
stuff
R16-end: sc 2 sc tog. continue til end fasten off leaving a long tail.

Now comes the tricky part: you need to get the shroom in shape. Take the tail and stitch from the bottom to the top right through the shroom and back in order to compress the shroom a bit.
Embroider eyes and cheeks using thread.

@wibit: They are indeed tiny - about half an inch (since I already gave them away I cannot measure them anymore, but the bananas were approximately 1.7 cm. and the apples even smaller)

@djonesgirl: I bet your girls would enjoy earrings like that. People keep asking my sister where she bought hers.  Cheesy

I'll post the shrooms and pears as soon as they're finished. I won't manage to start before Saturday, though, since I need to study for my horrible linguistics exam on Saturday...

if you do make shrooms would you mind posting a pattern? My sis and I have a joke about shrooms.
The apples are super cute and so is the bananna. I was looking at the other post (i think the same one you reffered to.) and thoughts they'd make cute earings.

They are not crocheted with thread. I thought about embroidery floss first but I didn't have any and since I'm notoriously broke and didn't feel like going shopping anyway, I took plain ww yarn and "split" it into three parts. It only works with some types of yarn, though. Some will break. I used a 1.25mm hook for crocheting.

@ Eliea: I already started with the shrooms. One of them is finished and I'm quite happy with it. It reminds me of my old Nintendo games. I'll try to post a pattern this weekend (after my exam...) - I've never done a pattern before, I hope it works...

Oh thanks you! *hugs you* I can't wait to see them! We studied mushrooms in biology years ago and how they are fungi but we eat them. Any ways the whole edible fungi thing has stuck. Smiley
I'm sure your pattern is fine. Smiley
