Crafting my pants off!

View Profile WWW available for personal swaps
« on: May 16, 2007 09:06:21 AM »

Hello!
In one month I am traveling to France for 30 days. I will have a 14 hour flight there, plus a 5 hour train ride. I really want a crochet project that I can take with me for these long rides. I usually make amigurumi, but I've tried do it in the car all the fiddly little pieces fall off my lap and get lost.

I am trying to pack light, so i am thinking I might want only one or two projects that are relatively large, but also simple enough that I can do it on a plane/train and not lose my place every 5 minutes.

Also, I don't want to carry around 8 balls of yarn, so I think it needs to be relatively small too.

Does anyone have any idea.suggestions/patterns?

Thanks!!
-Jess

I find that I never do as much crafting or reading as I think I will while traveling. I end up sleeping or chatting with people. Just something to keep in mind!

As for patterns, maybe socks or lace? Crochet Me has a pattern for socks from sock weight yarn, http://www.crochetme.com/issue_1/socks_in_shoes.html. I haven't tried it, but it looks alright. They don't require much yarn, but it's so thin that it would take you awhile to work it up.
