I call her Zania

Hi guys, this is my first picture post.

I did this over a year ago before I really knew how to knit (all of the knit stitches are TWISTED KNIT stitches (not intentional),  and I dont believe my method of increasing is even a recognized technique.)  Over 80% of the yarn was recycled, because I realized that recycling yarn was way easier than actually learning how to knit (I just love handling fiber.)

I was inspired by Prudence Mapstones  freeform crochet.  I knit a multitude of individual feather/leaves, added crochet borders, then played with a layout that would fitsort of like putting a puzzle together.

Its the first thing Ive ever created that is at all artisticIm a mountain athleteor was, now I know how to knit!

I can know knit a real knit stitch and even follow patterns!

Thanks for any input.  You all have been so inspiring to my knitting journey!

That is proper cool! As in, when you look at photographs of the earth from a mile high, with all the textures and geographical features all forming art - that is what this reminds me of.

You're inspiring me to do freeform art myself.

Truely a piece of art. I'm enamoured by this shawl, and am surprised I feel so strongly about it.

I'm glad you guys like it!  I loved working on it as I could do it individual increments (like a leaf/feather at a time).

Be sure to google Ms. Mapstone for wonderful inspiration in the world of freeform.
