I did a pair with sequins once, to wear to prom no less.  there is a knit pair on craftster somewhere - I can never find things when I am looking for them. Go with your instincts and what you will wear.  Those with the sequins survived prom, and about a month before I started leaving sequins where ever I went, and I wore them till they fell appart!.

Some new laces, spice any old chucks up. Also, look into novelty buttons, like hearts and such and sew them on. Maybe a trim around the top would help in changing it up too.  Smiley

Ooh! You could sew some funky fabric over the tounge of the shoe. Or even just a different solid color.  Smiley

um...try  safety pins, pop tabs, snapple bottle caps, stick on lace, even mod podge (its a cheap sealer/glue used to make collages out of magazine clippings/pics and it might work on the higher part of the high tops), nail polish, maybe take a thick needle and hand "embroider" stuff into it....i'd be something differnet. hope it goes well!
