When I used to make laundry soap like this (need to get back on the wagon), it turned to gel.  I didn't mind the texture, plus making the liquid/gel version allowed me to add my own fragrance blends.

I just have to share with everyone in this eco-craftalong that I bought my Borax and finally got a chance to use it today. I cleaned toilets, counter tops, fiberglass showers, and mopped my floors. I'm proud to say everything is sparkling clean. It was like using comet but without all the icky chemicals.

Thanks to you all that shared this wonderful eco-tip of using Borax. Great stuff!!  Grin

I'm in the UK. I got Borax at Wilkinsons and at Boyes.... I don't know if either of these help you at all Edel.

I also got caustic soda at Wilkos for soap making, I'd asked in Boots the Chemists but the woman there didn't know anything about it.

I've done a few recycling crafts recently. I made some dvd suncatchers for my garden:

They look really pretty when the sun catches them. I also put some glass nuggets, mirrors and beads on them. The dvd's were mis-burns, so they were useless and would have been thrown away otherwise.

I made some hand-made paper from junk mail using my A4 deckle and frame:

The coloured speckly effect is from the print. I also made the deckle and frame, the net I used was some I found on a footpath, someone had fly-tipped an old suitcase full of stuff and it was amongst that. I rescued the net and rang the council to get them to pick the rest of the rubbish up. I washed the net before I used it.  Wink

And I made a new spindle from some dowling, some old cd's and my trusty hot glue gun:

It looks so pretty when it's spinning!  Cheesy
The paint I used to decorate my spindle was left over from decorating my living room.

More about all these projects in my blog!  Cheesy

No, I sort of engraved the flowers on with my craft drill  Wink
I glued 2 dvd's back to back so that the holographic effect was on either side.
