Okay, I didn't make these patterns or anything, they actually came off the Canon website, but I wanted to show them off because I put so much time and effort into them. I hope it's okay to show off things you just assembled..

Maneki Neko, a cat with the left paw raised in a "beckoning" posture. These are usually seen in businesses and are believe to bring good luck! I've always thought these were darling, so to find out I could make one from paper, I was ecstatic! I'm making 5 more to use as table centerpieces for my wedding party on the 26th as well. This was the first papercraft sculpture I ever made-- took about 5-7 hours.

This one is also for the party this month, but I'm only making one of him, and if anyone touches it I'm going to smack their fingers!

This dragon is also from the Canon site. Took 17 sheets of paper, and about 25-30 hours of construction (including cutting time, which took me two days to complete cutting out all 43 pieces of the dragon). Assembly was fairly simple compared to cutting, although the claw on the bottom of his right leg (the one that's holding the pearl) keeps coming off, which is irritating me.

As you can see from the photo with the soda can, he's HUGE! I have no idea what I'm going to do with it until the party-- or how I'm going to transport it safely to Virginia, but man was it fun to make!

Thanks for looking! Oh, the Canon site is: http://cp.c-ij.com/english/3D-papercraft/lucky/index.html

WIPs: Thanks! Yeah, the dragon took a lot of work, especially the cutting! I suck with Xacto knives, so I had to do it all with scissors and it took forever. Looks absolutely amazing though-- the pictures really don't do it much justice.  Grin

mgodby86: Thank you! Yes, we're having an oriental theme. Technically, we already got married, so this thing coming up is just a party with family and friends-- so we decided to go crazy and do whatever them we felt like, and we've been having a lot of fun with it!

enbal: I used 28lb paper, which is a bit thicker than "regular" copy paper, but not as heavy as cardstock. I basically wanted something pretty sturdy that would also crease easily, so the 28lb worked well for that. (I used to work at a copy shop, I know WAY too much about paper. lol)
