Make an apparatus attached to a board made from wire.   Then stretch the tights or hose over them.  Then paint away.  I prefer to use a base coat like gesso to make the a more solid foundation for painting.  This can also be done for a unique lamp shade cover.

You can cut them into skinny loops an fingerweave. Make stuff like headbands and jumpropes:

I just realized that I have not post this costume ever  Tongue
I used a pair of girls tights to make the wig, I cutted the legs and knot (or sew, I cant remember) the leg holes, then I cutted many many stripes of that green yarn and folded them in half, then I sewed them in round (sorry for bad english, I hope you can understand it) It came out incredible, I am sorry that I have no more detailed pictures, but I cant teel you that it made a very confy and durable wig, I totally recomended this method... I hope it made sense for you... feel free to ask if you didnt understand

wow ! that wig is awesome!

I have some baby tights that are too short for my little girl now.  I'm going to cut off the legs and use them to make a headband. (just cut off the ends and tie together at the right length)  I see headbands for babies all the time that look like the exact same material.  I already made tutus so I am going to attach some of the tulle from that to the headband and make it match.  Smiley

didn't read all replies so sorry if this is a repeat.

You can cut them up and sewn them together and make headbands for toddlers and then ever dress it up and add bows and stuff as well.

OH OH OH - I know I know what to do with old tights!

Get a big bunch of them and start putting them on your head like a hat, one pair at a time, right over one another, with the legs hanging out the sides. When you are done you have lots of crazy flappy legs hanging down around yoru head like snakes.....

My older sister tells me that I did this a LOT when I was about seven years old, and then I'd run around the house yelling things like "I am Medusa... turn to stone!" and everyone would freeze in their tracks. When I was a kid my mother NEVER EVER EVER got rid of anything at all so we had bags and bags of old skanky torn nylons around the garage (probably still do today too, ugh!)

very fun.

OMG, that is sooo funny! and I can see my kids totally getting into that one.  (I'm not owning up to doing it too hehe)
