I much prefer real corsets to the "corset-style" garments that pop-up in today's fashion. So... Voila, a real one.

I started this corset roughly 10 months ago, but life got in the way and it got shelved for a while... But I really buckled down on it this past month, and voila!

Lightweight garment leather for the fashion layer, 12oz cotton canvas for the strength layer, and a mix of 1/4" spiral and flat steel boning. The lace is free-standing lace created on one of the Bernina's in my sewing room.

It looks better on a people, namely a me people

That's my latest  corset, hope you enjoyed it!

I know what you mean. Cheesy I can't get enough of the real deal, but they're a rarity outside of specialized communities.

Thanks! The pattern is actually self-drafted.

I actually have plans for a civil war era corset replica, since I've been stalking corsetmaking.com a little too much lately. If you don't already know about that website, I really suggest looking through it. Smiley

Beautiful. I love corsets, but admittedly, I get mine through Victoria's Secret at 75% cos I'm cheap and not skilled enough to make one.

Yours is wonderful. If I ever stop being lazy and get a bit thinner, I will def start wearing my corsets again. Who knows, I might venture into something homemade.

Oh I love corsetmaking.com. I get a heavy amount of my supplies from there.

Civil war, that's nipple-height hourglass, correct? Are you using a pattern?

That's the style~ I have a pattern laying around that I plan to use for reference, but I'm already small enough that even if I use it, it would have to be with quite a bit of alteration down to my size. So I'll be drafting, for the most part, with help when I need it.
