Ive run out of space on my balcony for my container garden so Ive resorted to attaching hanging baskets and planters from every imaginable place.  The railing of my balcony is pretty sturdy so I made this crocheted cover for a self watering planter.

first I made an easy self watering planter from a 2 liter pop bottle (there are tons of instructions on the web to make these.

Then I free form crocheted this sock like thing.  I slid a pencil at the end of the strap to hook it on the slats of my balcony railing.

Right now I have a swiss chard seedling growing it in.
