Is there a seam ripper out there that doesn't get dull after use? I have ripped seams out of several pairs of jeans and now all 3 of my seam rippers are dull and one even broke  Sad   Yes they are cheap enough but if there is one out there that won't go dull I need it. I am on a blue jean rag quilt roll. And now I have to wait to rip more seams until I can run to the local Walmart,

I never have a seam ripper long enough for that to happen!  My cat steals them.

Mine's been through me and my mom, and still works great. I don't know what brand it is though Sad

I can tell you it was really cheap, though. Dad didn't see why you needed high-dollar stuff for sewing Smiley

I would find a sewing/fabric store in your area-the people who work there will probably be able to recommend and/or sell you one that they prefer.  I have cheap-o one from Wal-Mart, but it was crummy from Day 1.  I'm tempted to shell out a couple of bucks for one and see if it's not at least decent.   Undecided

This weekend I may have to run down to my local quilt shop and see what I can find. A seam ripper is a must have when ripping jeans apart for stuff. All I could find at Walmart was cheap ones so I bought 3 to hold me over until I can hopefully find a better one.

This is just an idea and I've never tried it but could you maybe "sharpen" one with tin foil? Like when you cut through tin foil a bunch of times with your scissors  Huh Go ahead and laugh if its a stupid idea  Grin

If you can't convince them, confuse them.

I've had some of mine go dull.  I have a mid priced one and it really didn't impress me, it broke within a week.  I would think one by Olfa or Gingher, if they make them... would make a big difference.
