Sorry if this question has been asked already, but I didn't see anything on this topic.

I am making my very first quilt. It is a simple one with 6x7inch squares. I was just wondering what is attached to what in what order.

Do I sew the quilt top first, then sew the quilt backing to the batting, then attach the backing/batting piece to the quilt top?

Or do I sew the squares onto the batting, then attach the backing?

I'm so confused and I don't know how else to explain this. I hope this makes sense lol. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks Grin

You need to sew your squares together and add your borders, etc. to make the quilt top.

Then you will sandwich the batting in between the quilt top and the batting to do your actual quilting through the entire 3 layers.

Last, you attach the binding around the edges.
Good luck!
