Tut below pictures!
When I saw hollylynne's
Pirate Clutch, I knew I had to make one. So I decided it would be a birthday gift for one of my friends. I used a different stitch, but tried to copy her idea as much as possible

Yarn: TLC Essentials Worsted * Medium in Eden Green
Hook: H/8-5.00mm
Here is how I made the stitch pattern for the body of the clutch:
Chain Multiple of 2 +1 (basically as wide as you want the purse to be!)
Row 1: Single crochet across.
Row 2: Chain 1, single crochet across.
Row 3: Chain 2, Crunch Stitch as follows:
-- slip stitch loosely in second sc from hook, half double crochet in next sc, slip stitch in next sec, hdc in next, and continue this across. You should end on a slip stitch.
Row 4: Chain 1, single crochet across. Repeat for Rows 5 and 6.
Row 7: Chain 2, Crunch stitch again.
Row 8: Chain 1, single crochet across. Repeat for Rows 9 and 10.
Row 11: Chain 2, Crunch stitch again.
And I continued alternating this way until I had a rectangle long enough that when folded it made a height I liked for the purse, including enough to "flap over" and button.
I found it was best to end the body of the purse during the rows of single crochet, because that is where I made the button hole. In one of those rows, when I got to near the middle I just made a few chains and skipped a stitch or two, then continued single crocheting across.
Now, for the shell edging... that was pretty much trial and error! I knew how to make them, but spacing them out so they were fairly equidistant was a bit tircky. To make the shells, just double crochet 5 or 6 times in one stich. I think I used slip stiches between shells... again, I just kind of experimented with these until I got them spaced nicely.
Then I just folded the bag up so the inside was facing out, sewed up the sides with a yarn needle and then flipped it right-side out!
For the lining, I used hollylynne's instructions which you can find at her original post linked above (it's on the second page of comments).
I *think* that's it... please message me or comment here if you have any questions or if I completely confused you, haha. I am still a novice myself, and haven't written a tut before!
Again, thank you for all of your kind words!! Show me if you make one!
