For mother's day, i decided to make my wonderful mommy some wonderful earrings! and (gasp!) they're actually done already... not 15 minutes before her dinner.

anyway, you know how when you were little you made bookmarks by pouring tacky glue onto the top of a hard pencil case? Yea, me neither, but a lot of people said they did.

Well, i figured i could do that in other ways. So I poured some glue onto a clean smooth plastic surface and spread it into a circle. Then i put on beads when the glue got slightly thick. And ring beads up top. Then the glue dried, and i peeled it off, and voila! Earrings.

those babies next to em are gunna be earrings too! yay fried marbles!
oh, i forgot to mention i just poked a hole through the ring beads, added some string and a big bead, and tied it off on the hook. plus there's glitter in the glue.  Roll Eyes hehehhe i love me my sparkles!!

So, do you think she'll like them?

waaay back when i was in elementary school, there was a 'lip' just inside or desks for pencils n'such. we poured glue there (our pencil boxes were cardboard....like a cigar box) and made *hah* fake fingernails. They were all long, dragon-like  Cool yes. cool.

so your glue idea for earrings is better than bookmarks and talons, by far Grin

This actually reminds me of a project I did in elementary school, also for mother's day:  we took those transparent plastic pill tubes/containers (with the safety caps) and filled them with random plastic beads and set them evenly spaced (about four or five inches from each other) on a tray and baked them in the oven at I think (but can't remember) 400 degrees (F or C? I don't remember either).  The only problem is that it turns into a big pool of plastic, which is neat for a brooch...but for earrings they're rather big, unless you don't mind wearing a piece the size of your cheek.  I wonder what you'd use to help shape them a bit?  Metal cookie cutters?

Hehe...I do the glue-drying-on-top-of-a-pencil-box all the time. It looks pretty cool too!

You can put anything you want in the glue or you could color the space with lots of marker and you've got a colored one!

Thanks for the idea, and great job!

They are an excellent idea - I hope they don't melt in the rain though!

how have they held up? My concern would be humidity or rain. But they look so pretty!

I'm having one of those "how come I didn't think of that" moments.

I drew the tattoo I'm considering getting when I'm old enough on my ankle with glue the other day and it set. Then got bored and did swirls on my leg. Random I know, but the glue dried so it shows that glue wouldn't melt from a little body temperature.
