I had no idea what this word meant either...but didn't bother to figure it out until your post challenged me!  Here's what I found

Tink
Unknitting stitch by stitch. Compare with frog stitch. Term invented by Wendy Chatley Green's husband, who observed that "knit" spelled backwards is "tink."

I found this definition at  http://www.woolworks.org/terms.html  Seems almost too simple. Why didn't I think of it!?

well *now* it makes perfect sense!!! thought it might be short for tinkering, but that connotation more conjures up metal bits and machine noises, rather than textiles!!!   thank you !

I've decided then that "roid" is the act of unpicking  emb roid ery gone bad---as in pain in the ass......
