Amazing detail. I keep thinking I know which one is my favorite -- all the felt entries are so fabulous but this picnic is just amazing. I love all the little details and components.

You guys are all so flattering!  I guess I can stop kicking myself for not completing the few last items I intended on doing to finish off the set now, huh?

I still think i'll make a few more things for the set, like a red and white checkered picnic blanket with a parade of embroidered ants, a piece of chocolate cake, and some lemon slices with a slit for placing on the rim of say, a pretend glass of iced tea?

I've also decided that I'm definitely gonna give it to my cousin's son, even if he does just destroy it!  I think toys unloved are sad toys indeed.

Wow!  I'm almost speechless, or typeless as the case may be.  You did a really-super-good job on these.  I was wondering if the red on the front of your tomato is blanket-stitched to the white, and then backed with another piece of red, before you needle punched it?  It looks so good and I can't for the life o' me figure out how you did it.

Basically, the tomato slices are made as such:

cut a half circle of red, then blanket stitch on teardrop shaped sections in white on both sides, believe it or not.

Then, needle felt the crap out of it!!  The red felt that is sandwiched in the middle eventually starts to poke out and meld together with the white, producing that neat little i'm-red-but-not-very-red effect.

I wanted the centers to be lighter, but not white all over.  I love that acrylic felt still works like wool felt, for the most part, and locks itself together most of the way.
