Hi,

When I saw this challenge I knew exactly what I wanted to do!  I wanted to use the felt I'd been donated to make a cover for my hot water bottle.  I love books in general and Alice in wonderland and through the looking glass in particular.  So curling up with a good book and being warm seemed the logical thing to do!

This is my first challenge and I've just bought a sewing machine, so the first photo is of my beautiful new friends!

This is how the book looks (the image is from the original illustrations for the book)

It standing up (there is carboard on the inside reinforcing the spine and the pages of the book)

Page detail (because I thought it was a cute idea)

Close up of alice (I used fabric glue to stick the pieces... my eternal admiration to people who actually sew applique... maybe once I'm better!)

View of the top with the zip (my first zip!) open and my hottie showing

Me curled up on my bed with my book

Hope you like it, I enjoyed making it and am looking forward to curling up with it (it's the beginning of winter here in NZ!)

Brilliant!  I saw at the end you mentioned NZ and laughed. It IS so cold right now and a lovely hottie cover would be fabulous. I love Alice and way she is peeking aorund the cover.  The page detail is very nicely done as well.
