I love this. My new thing is trying (keyword = "trying") to sew for my 8.5 month old daughter. I figure if I start attempting it now, by the time I become an accomplished seamstress she'll be a toddler and hopefully won't out grow clothes in 2 weeks like she has thus far!!! Its just so hard to find time to craft right now with her this young. Does it get easier? I hope?!? I was going to attempt sewing last night when I got her to bed, but ended up discovering some mistakes on my project and then proceeding to spill an entire glass of red wine on the desk and my sewing machine and almost on the project. So I packed it all up before I could do further damage.  Sad

at least you're finding time to drink red wine!  Wink

i'm impressed you're even attempting to sew at this point. i'm pretty sure i was still in "walking dead unable to even get the dishes done" mode when my schmoop was 8.5 months old. it does get easier. i swear. and, yes, the growth slows down, so if you're slow like me, you have enough time to finish a project before it's too small!

the biggest thing for me was when the little girl went to one 2-hour nap a day (at about 14 months). i live for those 2 hours! recently, i've even found she has started to play a bit more by herself. i was actually able to do a quick bit of sewing the other day while she was awake! amazing.

and don't feel bad about the mistakes. i make TONS. i can't even tell you how many times i had to rip out stitches on this dress and/or was sure i'd ruined the whole thing.

Yes it does get better - they can play more by themselves as they get older. I found I 'trained' my ds, by doing something else for 5 mins once I had set him up with toys...gradually lengthen the time to about 15-20 mins as he got older. Now he is almost 3 and likes to play on the computer while I sew! It is in the same room.

I think this dress is awesome! it looks like a designer dress like someone else mentioned. Love how you combined the bits and pieces of the t-shirt images. SOOOO inspiring!

That is an incredibly cool dress. I'm so impressed. I have been desperately trying to think of any tshirts I can recon into a dress for our daughter. Sadly, the only available tshirts we have are the kind they hand out at game conventions, so daggy even my game geek partner has never worn them.

thanks! the original shirt was not so fabulous, so you might be surprised at what could come out of one of your daggy (what exactly does that mean anyway?) shirts if you hack it up.
