That is beautiful!!! I love all the beading, it adds a nice extra dimension to the wool.

That is absolutely incredible! I love it. I am sure she will always treasure it! Now for a dumb question is it itchy at all? I have problems with real wool. Does felting it make it easier to wear?

What a great question. Wonder if there are products to coat/impregnate the wool around the neck band - maybe acrylic medium - to make it smother. For me the itch is the problem rather than a wool allergy, so the finer the wool the better. Also alpaca and silk etc. are smooth and help decrease the itch.

Beautiful necklace!

Thanks for all the great comments!

I don't think felting has makes the wool any less itchy, though I haven't worn it for an extensive period of time.  I'll have to ask my mom how it fares Smiley  The biggest factor I've encountered so far that determines softness is the softness of the roving you start with.  (Like Nean said)

just as a side- Superfine Merino.

If you haven't had the pleasure of having the roving in your hands yet, it is some of the most incredibly soft fibre I've felted. Perfect for projects that are next-to-skin. Wink

...of course cashmere is a beaut too, but who can afford that?  Cheesy
lol.

btw- your beading, beatcowboy, is beautiful- how long did it take you to complete?

cheers!
