Yay, lovely yarns Smiley This is my first fiber friday post! I've done a few skeins on drop spindles in the last twoish weeks, at this post here - http://www.craftster.org/forum/index.php?topic=167178.0 but yesterday we brought home our new wheel (Grin), a second hand Ashford Traditional and I was working on these two this morning.

I'm really loving the blue/purple merino and I'm going to spin up the other half of the roving soon and ply it, the multicoloured one is straight from a batt. I can't believe how much easier drafting is on a wheel than it is on a spindle, I had to predraft the heck out of my fiber for it to work with the spindles. So I'm going to keep going with this one, and I don't know whether I want to ply it or not, hmm.

Unfortunately, after I did these two the wheel broke! The metal pin holding the thingybob (you know Tongue) broke and now it can't treadle...so I've got to get another pin. Such torture to only just get to have a first play today and then it's taken away from me already! I hate waiting Tongue

Oh, sheesh!  I'm sorry I didn't read all the way down. (in a hurry, I guess!)  That's so sad!  Hope it gets fixed soon, Meshell!

oh my god the yarns this week are absolutely gorgeous!  i don't think i can pick a favorite!  i'm a little late to fiber friday this week.....my camera's batteries were dead yesterday and i was also feeling a little under the weather so i couldn't get pics of my in progress LARGE scale spinning project.  well.  large scale for me anyway....i've only recently been spinning 1oz at a time....i'm currently working on 4 oz of a beautiful merino top i purchased from fatcatknits on etsy called 'if only'.

the colors are SO vibrant...i LOVE this colorway!
a little eye candy for you all Wink

on the spindle...i'm a little over halfway through spinning this up

with the unspun fiber for comparison

Ive already found out, actually! $20 for a year membership to the guild, then I can get a wheel (ashford or louet), a drum carder, a niddy noddy, and a skein winder all for under $20 per month
vanilla!  now I'm even more jealous that I didn't get into that class!!  Your yarn looks great!!  We should do a k-zoo swap sometime *hint hint*

Also knitwit, you've got me swooning over yarn again this week... the same person got all of those?? Color me jealous...

Thanks for the sympathies, lol Wink I'm just glad that I got in a little play before it happened! We'll need to get a new pin from the Ashford dealer (who I got the secondhand one from so that's nice and easy). Hopefully ASAP, although they aren't open until Tuesday Smiley
