Sorry about all that alliteration but I couldn't resist. It really is a pewter pintuck bag made from a placemat I picked up on sale at Pier 1 for a couple of bucks. I gave it to my mom as a gift when I moved out of town for a while. I doubt she'll ever use it because she doesn't have many opportunities to dress up, but she displays it on the mantle over the fireplace in her room so I think she likes it.

It was easy to make and I just made up the pattern as I went (it's basically a tapered Jordy bag). I hope you like it and I'd love comments or feedback. Thanks for looking!

The placemat before cutting, sewing, etc.

The finished bag, as modelled by my lamp:

Detail shot of the pintucks and the vintage pearly button (the colour is more true-to-life in the previous pic). In case you're wondering, it's lined with simple black cotton:

I am an apologist for the spiders.

Just treat me no differently than you would the Tarantula Queen.

Wow, it's simple, yet fancy because of the pintucking.  Really nice.

This is great -- I never would have known it was a placemat!  I love it.
