I made this for my mom for last mothers day, I got the tutorial from a "painting on rocks" magazine...I dont have all the details with me but I will edit this and stick them on...I sprayed it with a clear acrylic low-gloss spray to protect it from the elements, and it is holding up very well...

Sorry if its messing up...I'm having problems with it...

Awwwww....  That is great!  My daughter painted a rock for me - a ladybug - when she was about 10 or 11 and I still have it (She's 19 now.)  Painted rocks ROCK!

i made one of those once, out of a rock a little smaller than that, only i painted it a silverish gray and glued googly eyes on it and painted on some little whiskers and glued on a little tail and made it a mouse..it was so cute
