I love the skull fabric, too. DD loves stuff with skulls! Where did you find it? Cute model! Is she into skulls as well? With my DD, it's a skull/skeleton/pirate thing. She's 2 1/2.

Wow. All the compliments are making me blush.
You guys are all so nice. And, in fact, that is a little tattoo on her chest. I have one across my sternum, and little munchkin decided she wanted to be just like mommy. I would be more than happy to make a tutorial for this, but it will take a couple of days. I promise, it's actually very, very simple and easy. The skull fabric? Two 94 cent bandanas from WalMart, and some bias tape. I just traced the top from an existing tank top, and just continued out the lines to the length I wanted.

2 Bandannas??!!! That is so cool. I wish I could still fit into 2 bandannas-think how inexpensive it would be to make a whole wardrobe!!!

I'm so sorry that I haven't posted a tutorial yet. I know I promised one, and I don't like to go back on my promises. I've been sick, and between that, working, and being full time mommy, I havent had quite the perfect moment to make one. I have the pictures, just not the text. LOL. I super promise, this weekend, you'll have the tutorial.
oh, and YES....it was just a temporary tattoo on her chest.

Hee. My bunny has two fake tats on right now - one on her ankle and one on her right shoulder, also just like mommy.
I am dumbfounded by how many people have asked me if they're real.
Sure, I'm in more tears than she is when it's time for shots - but I just thought that it'd be fun to hold my toddler down in a chair and let somone ink her up in a permanent design of my choosing!
I adore that halter dress! It's way too cute.

Okay guys. Here's the tute for the halter dress....however, I just made a top for the lil one in this one. All you have to do to make it a dress, is just extend the sides of the top to the length you want. Please bear with me, I'v never made a tutorial for anything, so if I miss anything, just let me know. Here goes:
First, I cut out two triangles of fabric. I just kind of guesstimated how big they needed to be, (I HATE measuring) and held them up to the lil one to make sure they would fit. I made one side a little more angled than the other...like this:
Then I added my new best friend, bias tape. Once I finally figured out how to work with that stuff, it's wonderful!!!
I then measured out the bottom of the halter top, (or dress) and cut out two pieces of fabric; one of which I made a casing for the elastic. That's gonna be your back.
After I finished with the elastic, I then sewed the triangles to the rest of the front, by placing them where I wanted them to cross over, and right sides of the fabric together. After that, I flipped it over and topstitiched it, just to give it a little more security.
To finish things up, I sewed the front and back together, and folded the hem up 1/4", and then folded it again, then stitched it. Voila! A handy top that my lil one can wear and play in.
Again, if I've screwed up too badly, or there's anything I didnt clarify, just let me know. Oh! And sorry for the HUGE numbers of pics.

Great tutorial! I just whipped one up in 45 minutes. I did not use the tape for both sides but just put a nice seam on the outside part of the straps. Here is mine (sorry girls are napping so not action shots yet).

Thank you! Thank you! Thank you! for the tute and the inspiration to run to Walmart. Okay, not for the Walmart thing, but the tute, yes. Your daughter is adorable, and I just love the clothes. Also glad to see I'm not the only one who thinks bandannas are the greatest thing EVER so far as little girl's clothes are concerned. I actually used to make no-sew club clothes for myself with them, once upon a time, which is where I discovered their use, but the little one is the only one in this house whose body can handle it now!

Problem is that I have all these curves and things in places where small children do not... and so the adorable shape of the dress that I love on them, looks absolutely horrid on me.
