well, i finally finished avast for my husband.  it's modified with wider front bands and a skull on the sleeve.  there are a few things i've realized from this, my first sweater.  first, i don't like turning hems.  i think i'll just stick to ribbing from now on.  also i think i'd prefer to work top down.  finally, almost having gauge is not the same as having gauge!  anyway, without further ado, here are the pics:

the sitting shot.  the neck came out a bit too big, but he said he doesn't care...

the standing shot.  it actually fits him better than i thought it would!

close up of the ultra cool new stitch i used for the front bands

close up of the cable along the bottom hem.

here's to hoping the sweater curse doesn't come around and bite me in the ass!

That's awesome, and it looks great on your hubbo!  My husband is leaning over me asking, "Can you put a hood on that... Huh"

I love it!! Amazing, that is your first sweater?  Shocked

I think it's the manliest sweater I've ever seen.  My b/f would never wear a sweater, he's all about the hoodies.  So I'm stuck knitting him fingerless gloves and socks.

Great ribbing shot, around the sweater bottom!
The picture even forced me to go back to read your comment about not liking "to hem" - because looks so perfect.

The whole sweater looks good in fact - what stitch did you use for the front bands?

Well done!

You forgot the last half of the 'curse' -- never knit your bf a sweater unless you've got the ring.  You're safe.  Wink

Very nice work!

Great work!!!  Perhaps the skull on the sleeve will scare away the curse???  LOL

We could learn a lot from crayons. Some are sharp, some are pretty and some are dull. Some have weird names, and all are different colors, but they all have to live in the same box.

Quoting myself, lol. So I just showed this to my bf and he's like "whoa, coool! How come you never knit me stuff like that?"

Hah! Go figure! Now I will have to give this a try.  Would you mind sharing the Misfits skull chart??
