Nashira: Thank you much, hopefully I can get this.

My baby is due in December and I have knit one blanket (but it is boring stockinette) and I am hoping to knit this one in some soft acrylic for a special blankie! I absolutely love this pattern. Everyone's looks gorgeous!

I used long tail cast on, which is what I always use unless I have a good reason not to.

No problem! Hope we get to see a pic of your new little one enjoying the blankie in a few months! Cheesy

Thanks everyone!!  I started to use a cable cast on, but after putting on the number of stitches I wanted, the blanket looked too small.  Even knowing it would grown once I got started, it still just didn't seem like enough, so I ripped and went with the long tail cast on.  PERFECT!  I've got about 1.5 inches into the bottom seed stitch border.  I'll take a picture once I'm more into it and post.

Welcome Charaxes!

Me again! (*sigh*  AGAIN)

I finished my border, and moved on to row one. In order to keep the side border stitches in seed stitch, I had to changed the directions for the last 11 stitches ( I changed it to [P1. (k1 p1) 5 times]. If I stitch it as directed [K1.  (p1 k1) 5 times], my seed stitch border is off.  and if I start the next row with a (k1 p1) 6 times, that makes my side border stockinette?Huh

I did add 3 pattern repeats, maybe that is my problem?  Everything else is correct, just the border stitches!  Should I just adjust my border to keep the seed stitch pattern and keep the pattern repeats as charted? Or did I make a booboo somewhere and need to rip the 1st row and start over?

How many stitches are you off?  Maybe you could just increase one (or two, or however many you need) to keep your pattern correct.  In the first row, it shouldn't be too noticeable.

Well, by "off" I meant the seed pattern. I have the right number of stitches....that works out--(ie I'm not short any stitches), but when I stitch the last few stitches as charted it turns the side border into stockinette!

OMG I think I just figured out what I did!!!!  My CO number is even!! I think it's supposed to be odd and that is where my issue is.  Will this cause any problems if I continue with the even numbers, or should I add a stitch to make it odd??

I would inc one to make it odd so that your seed st starts coming out correctly, but if you don't mind too much I don't think there should be an issue.
