I used just over 4 skeins.  If I cut out one repeat of the pattern, it would have been 4 skeins.  I used size 9 needles, but probably could have gotten away with 8s because the blanket was a little too wide in my opinion.

Thanks!  I might have to give cotton ease a try on the next blanket.  I really like the yarn, and the washability of it.  Good to know about needle size also.

Bluesmom, I really like the idea of having this on index cards!  I've typed the pattern up and I'm going to print it and glue it to my index cards (you'd think if I was too lazy to write them on the cards, I'd be just as lazy to type it! lol) 

I even added a section at the bottom of numbers so I know which "row repeat" I"m at! lol

Great idea and I love your blanket!!  I'm swatching in Sugar n cream, but if this doesn't work out I'm going to use cottonease.  I have an odd ball that I've already swatched and washed and I love the stitch definition!

Before I do the blanket I am trying to do a scarf but am really confused. I CO on 19 stitches for one pattern repeat, plus 8 stitchs to border the sides, so a total of 27 stitches, but it isn't working. How many do I need to CO to get just the two sides triangles and the smocked part once? Does this make any sense?

Also, on row one it says (K1, P1) 5 times, does that mean do the seed stitche border for a total of 10 stitches? I am guessing I need to CO a lot more stitches than I did.

I hope I  made sense with my questions, and thanks for any help

Ok.. had a chance to look...

It appears for the border diamonds you need to allot 11 stitches, so I totaled it up quickly and it looks like you need 39 stitches for the smocked pattern in the middle and the border diamonds on the sides. Hope that works!

And yes, when it says (K1,P1) 5 times it's referring to knitting seed stitch for 10 stitches, with an extra K1 on the end for a total of 11... cause they couldn't have just said it simply could they? LOL
