It looks beautiful Lawral! I love it in yellow!

I think it's neat that your smocking runs the width instead of the length... gives the blankie a whole new dynamic!

Whew, only one repeat to go.  I have stretched this project out for a looong time!  The baby shower is in three weeks, I should make it, hopefully!

All done... also in yellow!  It's Lion Brand Cotton Ease... took less than a month.  I ended up using 3x5 card and writing each row on a separate card, and then flipped through the cards as I went.  I never fully memorized the pattern.

That's a really smart idea!

I was wondering how you got the smocking to look so nice- my next row always looks like it has a loose stitch on one side. Did you follow the smocking directions exactly or make some change?

It was nice with the index cards because I never had to write down what row I was on-- whatever the card was at was the row I needed to knit.

I think I followed the directions on the smocking row-- after you purl 2, you bring the yarn back to knit, and then you stick the needle in 10 sts later and do the whole wrap around thingy?  I noticed that it looked a little loose when you went to the next row, but after you knit a couple rows past, it looks nicer.  I'm sure you're doing fine!!!  Can't wait to see yours... it sounds like you've put in a lot of effort so far.   Smiley

bluesmom:  How many skeins of cotton ease did it take for the blanket?

You did a beautiful job on it, by the way!
