I'm so excited about the get-togethers and kitchens and stuff!! We're scheduled to get into PDX on Wednesday night, so if anyone wants to help us unpack our truck (we're on the fist floor and should be an easy walkup), we can unpack late Wed night or Thursday morning. PM me if you want deets. Cause I know you all want to help unpack a Uhaul. Smiley

Otherwise, we'll be at some events as soon as they happen. 19th-23rd sounds great.

Although I don't live IN Portland, I live outside of Vancouver... but the Washington board seems to center around Seattle. So I snuck in here. I moved up here from SF in October, and talk about a change of scenery.
I have yet to make any connections out here, but would love to! Especially crafty folks!

Seems to be a lot of Cali transplants here  Grin

I was scratching my head as the snow was falling this morning. Hmmm... spring?

But I can't wait to get out and meet everyone and have their good ideas rub off on me.

Er... yeah! Smiley

Thank you to all of you who gave me great suggestions for restaurants in February when I was visiting your lovely city.  Now, my husband got accepted into school in Portland and we will be moving there in early August.  We are flying in May 21 to look for an apartment/duplex/townhouse to rent.  Any suggestions of places that are close to the MAX, safe and affordable?  Wanted to get the insider's opinion before we look on our own.
Thank you!

Oh my, y'all are so friendly!

To the person who mentioned moving away from LA because it's too superficial... I feel ya, except i live in Las Vegas right now, where for the exception of the Strip everything is just so darn dull it kills me. Relocated here from ultra-charming Savannah, Georgia (was born and raised in Puerto Rico) a year ago and I can't wait to leave. Hate it here. The only great plus is its abundant sunshine.

So, Portland is top of my list. I've been researching all morning (did so a few months ago, as well) about its neighborhoods, public transit and all sorts of fun things. Read that Portland's problem isn't the rain, but the overcast days. That troubles me a bit, but I think being in a city that seems so vibrant in many ways will definitely smooth that out (oh and it's relatively close to the Ocean...

So, I'm waiting to have $3000 saved up by the end of the Summer, pack up for a new life in Portland.

Mind you, I've never been there. I live DANGEROUSLY like that.    Grin

(But I do plan a short trip sometime in June/July)

Yeah for Portland! Really, the only thing that gets people is the weather. I personally love it and I grew up in the South (North Carolina) If you can handle the rain and grey for 6-9 months, you're good.
