This is a digital painting I recently completed using Corel Painter IX. I am working on my MFA, and a large part of my research has to deal with the disposability of American society. As a response to this, I am creating a series of "portraits" of everyday disposable items. By depicting these normally unnoticed items in a durable manner such as portraiture, I am hoping to encourage people to notice the vast amount of resources we take for granted as being worthless.

I'm not sure what all I'm going to do, but I know that I'm going to include a water bottle, a roll of paper towel, and a swiffer cloth. I will probably use a disposable diaper, too.

Yup. I have a digitizing pad on both my computer at work and for my laptop. Wacom and Corel Painter rock. Hard.

Thanks for the comments, misplaced hippie and dirtyprettythings. Smiley

LOL, kpuppy. Thanks.

It looks much more like a painting when you see it actual size, which is about 16"x20". Small like this it really does look a little too much like a photo.

I'm about to enter a visual/digital arts program (that is, if I get in) and we are going to be learning Corel Painter, it looks so awesome!

any art school related advice? I'll likely be going to a college, though I have a choice between three college programs and three universities...
