I'm not some sort of...elephant fancier...but I am enamoured with his little bottom in the first pic.  What a kind and jolly fellow.  I am going to try to find and elephant today.

that's too cute! I'm spending time at work on craftster to wait for my reports to run, and this story brought a smile to my face, despite the drab day and tedious work load.

Kudos to you!  Kiss

Cute! He has a very short trunk, tho... I guess that might mean he's a baby elepahnt?

Back in the day all elephants had short trunks. One day a curious little elephant was playing too close to the water's edge as an aligator was watching from below the surface. Then POW!!! The aligator grabbed onto the elephant's little trunk and pulled and pulled trying to get the elephant into the water. But the little elephant resisted and as the aligator pulled harder the elephant's trunk stretched further. The poor little elephant got away from the predator but now he had a ridiculously long trunk and thought all of his friends would laugh at him. But on his way home, he realized he could use his new long trunk to get the fruit from the very top branches of the trees his friends couldn't reach. He was so excited and when he told his friends of his day's adventure and his new advantage they wanted long trunks too. So they all went to the aligator and made a deal: if he would stretch out all of their trunks for them, they they would knit him pretty sweaters and things for the rest of their lives.

And that my dear, is why modern elephants have long trunks. As you can see, Pepto is just prehistoric.
