alrighty... here's my pathetic attempt at a pattern. It's probably super horrible, so feel free to edit it as needed.
How to make Front Post Double Crochets (
http://crochet.about.com/library/weekly/aa060797.htm
)
Remember, it was the yarn that made the hat beautiful...not my crummy attempt at a pattern.
PATTERN
-Single crochet 4 stitches, join
-Double crochet 10 stitches in ring
INCREASING ROUNDS
-Chain 3 (counts as 1st DC), Front post double crochet 1, *DC 1, FPDC 1, repeat from * 8 more times (that should make 20 stitches)
-Chain 3, DC 1, FPDC (should be above 1st FPDC), *DC 2, FPDC 1*, repeat from * 8 more times (30 stitches )
-Chain 3, DC 2, FPDC 1, *DC 3, FPDC 1*, repeat from * 8 more times (40 stitches)
-Chain 3, DC 3, FPDC 1. *DC 4, FPDC 1*, repeat from * 8 more times (50 stitches).
Now, depending on your yarn and crochet hook size (mine was with Noro Kureyon and a size I hook), this might be big enough to stop increasing. Put the hat on your head (yes, you will look silly!) and see if you need to add one or two more increase rows. Remember, the hat is supposed to stretch a little!
If you need to increase, follow the same pattern as above, adding one more DC to every group of stitches (I consider the DC’s between FPDC’s as a group…I’m also really weird) until you’ve reached your desired size.
EVEN ROUNDS
(This is following the last increase round with 4 DC’s in each group. If you added more, be sure to add those DC’s into the even rounds)
-Chain 3, DC 3, FPDC 1, *DC 4, FPDC 1*, repeat from * 8 more times (50 stitches)
Follow this until your hat reaches its desired length.
Hopefully this made sense. It probably doesn’t… cause it hardly makes sense to me! You’d think a college junior would be better at explaining things!

Ooh yay! another making fiends friend! The jumper/sweater thing - yeah, its the aussie/english word for a sweater. i keep forgetting that you guys dont call things the same as what we do (or that we dont call things the same as what you call them, depending on which side of the fence you're coming from)

Ha ha... You express yourself quite well. No worries
I, too, love this yarn. I have some I bought from Knit Purl in Portland a couple of weeks ago (which is a big deal considering I live in Kansas!) ... but I was in the store for "20 minutes" which, in my time, means 2 hours. My friend had patience. He started petting the yarn with me. So now I have 3 hanks and 2 balls of yarn and I have no idea what to make with them. I sat them on top of my tv so I can glance up and enjoy their colors.
Anyway, I also like your hat pattern. Sorry I'm so verbose (damn coffee).
