Here's my inaugural project from Stitch 'N Bitch Nation! It's called Basic Cable and it was really easy. I just started it last night! It is my first real project with cables and my first pom pom ever.

I just used some cheap-o acryllic yarn from my stash just to see how it knits up. I'm definitely going to be making some wool ones---this hat is going to make great presents for my friends because it was so easy and quick, and it's pretty much identical to the ones they're selling at Gap and J-Crew.

redbirdrae, I love that hat.  Great job on finishing it so quickly.  I can't wait to get Stitch n Bitch Nation now.  How did you get yours so quick?  Great job on the hat, they will make great christmas presents.

Great job!  Love the colour.

I think I'll knit that hat myself.  I haven't done a hat yet.  I do like pom pom hats.

My book should be here anyday now.

Joygoddess,

Cabling seems intimidating, but trust me, it's not as hard as it seems.

And guess what? You can do it without a cable needle! Check it out:

Cables are so easy! Try them once and you'll wonder why you haven't done them all along. And I don't have a cable needle either...I just use a double-pointed needle. Works exactly the same way.

That looks really good  Smiley I saw this hat in the projects on knit happens and it must have been the yarn colours or something because I thought it was kinda ugly Embarrassed Glad you posted this one, I probably never would have even thought of making this, but I think I will now (well once I actually GET my book  Cheesy but thats just a small detail lol)
