thought someone might like to try this project. These are easy to make, can be  entirely made of recycled materials-so you can save the earth and save your hard earned money.

Here's a pic and a mini instruction. Let me know if you need more info:)

to make your own:

take your recycled food box-like Cereal, Hamburger Helper, fruit roll ups, etc-we all throw tons of these boxes away, now reuse then and save money by not having to purchase gift bags:)

Take box and carefully cut off top flaps, so top will be open and you'll have the four sides and bottom.
Now take your paper-anything, newspaper, old catalogs, old book pages, etc (for bigger boxes you may need to piece together smaller pieces of scrap paper into a larger piece-I just tape them together) -and wrap the box like you are wrapping a present-carefully tucking in and neatly taping on the top and doing a "present end" on the bottom.
I added ribbon handles but you could use anything really-just punch 4 holes for the handles, slip ribbon in hole and neatly tie double knot to secure.
Add embellishments if you feel like it, use with tissue paper or better yet shedded recycled paper to protect and hide your gift.

Hope this helps someone and happy recycling:)

Great idea! And these can be recycled afterward if they are embellished and wrapped  with other paper/biodegradable things. Those expensive ones are usually covered in a layer of shiny plastic. Yuck!
Good job Smiley

Thanks for the replies   Grin

Yes I try to have a few of these already made up on hand for last minute gifts. You could even take small candy boxes, Rice A Roni type boxes, etc. to make small gift bags when you give someone a gift card or money. That way they still get to open a present -LOL.

These "bags" are very sturdy and will last through several gift givings.

You are a genius!  I am super excited about your idea, and can hardly wait to make one, or fifty.
