i hope this is where we're supposed to post this... if it's not, i'm so sorry for causing a hassle.

i have many favorite periods in history, but i think by far the 18th century is my favorite. if i had months and months and wayyy more skillz, i'd totally make a sac-back dress, but yeah... i don't have wither of those. soooo... since i don't have the time/abilities to make a dress, COAT!

i just finished this today Cheesy
i must say, this has been a big accomplishment, as it's the first jacket i've ever made, first period peice i've ever done, and first time i've drafted my own pattern.  most of the stuff i do is recon, so this was a big task, but i'm REALLY happy with how it came out. i'd give you some action shots, but it doesn't fit, since the pattern i made my pattern off of was male. yeah. waahh. oh well. enjoy!

Great work! I love the way it looks - if you have a particular recipient in mind, he's one lucky guy.

I've always dreamt of making myself a coat like that  Roll Eyes-- I've got at least 2 patterns, but the amount of time/yarn/skils involved... How long did that take?
It's fabulous in any case!

I'm so glad somebody did something other than 50's/60's.  Not that the 50's dresses aren't beautiful and all, but this was such an original choice of "era".

And the details!  So nice.

I really hope you get an opportunity to wear it, it looks like it took way too mumch time and skill not to!

I must say, I'm also a big fan of the 1700s, and I just love this jacket. Heck, who says its a period piece? I'd wear it normally.

tee hee thanks to both of you!

i've been seriously thinking of taking in the sleeves a bit (they're waay to big on me) and just wearing it normally.
