Was outside helping the parents spruce up the yard for sprinummer (yea, that's the new season here in NJ Roll Eyes) and saw this med. sized terracotta pot that they wanted to throw out b/c it was cracked.  I'd like to salvage it b/c it's just a hairline crack, otherwise it's in perfect condition (duh, right? Tongue).  If anyone has any ideas of what I could do with it, or at least what I could use to seal the crack?

Hi,  This idea would be more for the broken pot (pieces).  There is a lady here at the flea market that takes pieces of pots and paints on them the names of plants seals it with a finish , attaches a stake.  Can be used in a larger pot, garden or flower bed.  They are different sizes.

Here are some suggestions from Sunset magazine:

Quote
Turn them into mulch. Slip on protective eyewear and hammer pots into small, dull chunks for a short dirt path (not good for bare feet).

Cover drainage holes. Place medium-size chunks (about 2 inches wide) at the bottom of pots so that soil doesn't wash out once you plant and begin watering.

Repair them. If the pot is valuable and the break is clean, apply glue that's appropriate for porous materials (Liquid Nails is one) to the edges of the break and cinch the pot together with a band clamp. Allow it to dry thoroughly.

I like breaking the pots into smaller chunks and placing them at the bottom of my pots, which will help with drainage and reduce your soil spilling out of the bottom, as stated above.

My first instinct was a fairy house using fake trees and dirt from hobby stores. Break it at the fracture for a door or window and make the rest of it her house.

This idea also reminds me, if your a nature lover making a toad abode (sp-?) and placing somewhere in the yard.  Need to make a door in the pot.
