My friend Bev, who also embroiders, will be moving a few states away in the coming week.  I made a little needle book for her as a farewell present.

The Hardanger embroidery is satin stitch, dove's eyes and wrapped bars on 28 ct Quaker cloth, stitched with perle cotton in size 8 and 12.  There is dark green felt between two layers of fabric, and two thin sheets of adhesive magnet inside to hold needles in place and keep the book closed.

Comments and questions welcomed! Thanks for looking. Smiley (The color is truest in the second picture.)

Thank you, junquette!  Bev was quite happy with it.  It actually was supposed to have two windows and be much larger, but I cut the wrong threads in the second window and there was no fixing it or time to redo the dove's eye and wrapped bars window.  Tongue

no one would ever know! You definately made a one of a kind gift that I'm sure will always remind her of you every time she uses it. Kind of bittersweet really isn't it?

Life makes odd little turns all the time.  Isn't it part of being a crafty gal to be able to salvage a flubbed project and make some thing of it?  Wink

I wanted to give her something unique because she is pretty unique.  She will be missed in the area, but we're already making plans to get together in Jaunary at her new place.

Ah, so that what dove's eyes and wrapped bars look like!  I love the magnetic interior of your latest needlebook!  Gorgeous work as usual, Fidget Smiley

Thank you, Loves2experiment.  Hardanger is fun to do.  Perhaps you can give it a try?  You don't have to use sharp needles.  Wink
