Mom made this dress many years ago (this is why it's not under reconstruction?)
[edit] SHOOT! Credit to where it's due -- my mom made the new dress for me, too! I had accidentally closed the window on my first post so I got lazy when I redid this post. Sorry!

[edit] Just got home from prom 2 hours ago. MAN, IT WAS AWESOME DANCING IN THIS DRESS! I'M DEFINATELY GOING TO MAKE MY OWN DRESS FOR SENIOR BALL (I'M LEARNING HOW TO SEW THIS SUMMER). I think I'm gonna make a dress just labout 6in. longer --- close to make ankles. I ... don't know how I'd do in a gown. D:

Oh my goodness! It's wonderful, I don't think it's too poofy at all. I love it.

What a beautiful reincarnation! You did a great job, I think it looks just like the inspiration. And no, the skirt is not too poofy. It has a perfect dose of poofage. Grin

how pretty!  and as an amusing side note, the dress you used for inspiration is the exact one my best friend wore to her junior prom.  anyway, great job, I myself have never been very good at gathering/pleating lace like you did, so kudos!
