well i bought this dress for cheap, sorry no before pics but it was too long for my liking and the skirt part was just too poofy to wear over jeans ...

this morning i somehow woke up with a clear idea of what to do [weird how that happens eh?]....so i changed the straps to make it a halter top, cut some out of the back and laced it up, and took some off the bottom but then left a long long piece to wrap around my waist- you can't really tell since it blends in but it goes around a few times!

turned out interesting, I like it since i didn't have to sew anything [yay!!] I think I'd wear it with a different pair of jeans though

I love it too!  It's really cute. I love the bodice and the back where it laces... I love the color... I love the shape... You really did a good job..

I have to comment on where you said you woke up and it was clear what to do with it... I do that all the time. I know that I want to do something to something, I just don't know what exactly...

Lots of times I take the garment and hang it in a place where I will be walking past frequently, or where I will see it from where I am sitting. Eventually something will come and it's off the cutting table..

I'm very impressed...
Oh and yes... tight jeans  Wink

interesting shape and details!! I love it that creativity hit you and you went with your idea!! Lovely job!

I use old clothes to test out an idea (in case it doesn't turn out how I wanted in my head!!) and then sometimes remake it using other fabrics.

Yeah, Maxine, sometimes you have to let the piece "speak" to you!

that's right... and it usually does... only a few times have I not gotten a good idea and ended up having to just re-stash the garment back to it's original folded or hanging 'totally taking up useless space in the closet'... place... well, you know what I mean  Smiley

Thanks for all your kind comments....

Maxine- oh yes tight jeans definetly do the trick with this one hehe

I pretty much always go on impuse on creating things and putting it out where I walk past is always a great idea [plus I swear I have ADD and that way I won't forget about it after that initial flash of thought!]  I do that a lot with my paintings too.....some things need time to sit and settle before you can finish them

I think that may be the signature of the most creative minds... I design things in my mind. It's how I fall asleep at night. I usually remember the designs in the morning... most of the time... but yes the design must be perfected in the mind first then it will work much better...

Maybe we're geniuses  Cool
