So my boyfriend of over a year and I are both doing summer missions this year.  We'll be apart for 10 weeks, which will be really hard since the longest we've been apart has been 3 days :/  he's going to eastern europe and i'll be in montana!

anyways, I wanted to make him something like a little photo book or something while we're apart.  so if any one had any cute ideas or something that would be awesome Smiley  keep in mind it needs to be easy to pack in hs backpack or suitcase for the flight over there.

if it helps, i can sew, knit, paint, sing...

thanks!!!

the little photobook of yours sounds like a sweet idea.  i was just roaming around the various boards here and found this link:
http://www.diynetwork.com/diy/shows_hcc2c/article/0,3110,DIY_27284_4938454,00.html

it opens up to be a starshaped book.  you can include some love letters, photos, and tiny mementos in it.  if you make it small enough, he could probably be able to keep it in his back pocket.

good luck!

This is probably kind of late, but I just wanted to say that there are a lot of ideas on the Valentines board. For the photos thing, you could probably make a scrapbook or modge podge photos onto a box and fill the box with things that will remind him of you.

yeah i read a lot through that board and got some good ideas Smiley

a box would be cute but i think too bulky to travel with.  i want it to fit in his backpack easily.  i like the scrapbook idea though, thanks!

Don't know if this helps but i'm thinking of stuff to get my boyfriend when he jetsets as well. My plan was to make him a passport holder with a clear window for photos and home made travel guides of stuff i know he'd like (lots of research) and a letter.

Just an idea.
Let me know if you get any great ideas..i'm still brain storming

A stuffie! Make a stuffie!

I made an amigurumi-type penguin for my boyfriend and he sleeps with it every night.
