Today I went to IKEA with my best friend a got a lot of cheap stuff to get crafty with.

One thing I brought home was a plain seethrough clock I got for 99 cent and I decided to make it my new craft room clock.
And since I'm a preschool-teacher I have tons of kids drawings laying around. So I thought: why not bring them together?
I just took out the paper that was in the clock and cut one of my favourite drawings to size, punched a whole in and set that whole thing back together.

The result:

Nothing too spectacular, but I thought I`d share.  Grin

Oh, I love this!! So much that I'm going to lift the idea Wink  My dd is learning how to tell time and it would be such a fun project to "make" this clock together.  I know she'll be tickled to see her artwork in it.  Thanks for the inspiration Smiley

oh, this would be a *fantastic* mothers/father's day gift from a pre-schooler, or any kid, I suppose.  I especially like the look of the hand-drawn numbers.

This is a case of "so simple, yet so brilliant"

This rocks.

Cool! I can't wait 'til Ikea comes to Florida!  I'd stock up on clocks for that price. Looks great. Was it difficult to get the clock apart and back together again?

That's a nice drawing for a preschooler. Looks like the work of at least a second grader! That's a compliment.  Grin

Yeah, I was thinking about this last night whist laying awake in bed staring at the darkness wishing I'd fall asleep...

how do you get the picture in there?  did you have to take the hands off the clock?

Yes, you have to take the clock apart completely.
Here is a picture of the back:

I took out the black clockwork, the hands attached to it in the front are then laying around loose behind the plastic window. You now are able to remove that and the hands. After putting the new picture in, you just set everything back to where it was : starting with the clockwork from behind, then putting the hands back on and cover all that up with the plastic thingie.

Tadaa!

What an ingenious idea! I can't wait until my son is old enough to draw. He's only 12-weeks old at the moment, so I think I'll have to wait a little bit longer  Grin

That would be an awesome mother's day craft for your preschool kids.  I know I would be totally floored if my kid came home with a cool craft like that!!!

That's so cute, I've thought about doing this too because I find clocks utterly dull, but now I just wish I had drawings too Tongue
