My daughter's school had a Rodeo Day last week and she needed a stick horse. I decided to go all out and made a fun felt stick horse for her, and knew I had to girl it up in a big way. When I was a kid, I was a huge Tom Boy, so having such a seriously girly girl of a daughter has been a challenge, but I'm starting to have a LOT of fun with it.

She LOVED the stick horse and had loads of fun with it at school. Smiley

Cheesy I vaguely remember making one of these out of a sock as a kid. The stuffed sock shape makes a great horse head, though it went floppy pretty quickly as I recall. Your version rocks - I love the rainbow mane!

Thanks y'all!

Yeah, socks are the traditional way of making these, but I was wanting to do something colorful ... and something that would help thin out my scrap pile. The only thing I purchased for this project was the yarn for the hair (it was a rainbow yarn) and the stick - everything else was leftover from something else. Love when that happens!

I had to put the bows at the bottoms of the ears to hide the quick (=ugly) job I did in stitching on the ears. They were a good coverup, but now that I look at the pictures, I realize it's a little weird to have bows under ears ... ah well! Wink
