I can't believe I'm opening Fiber Friday this week!

Here's my skein. I named it "Happy" because it seems happy to me  Wink

It's 2 ply. Merino (multicolor) plied with unknown wool from a sheep.  Grin

Comment are welcome!

I love Happy!

Oh, I wish I had something to add this week, but I've been traveling and haven't done much spinning.  I look forward to the rest of the fibery goodness, though!

This is some fibery goodness from spunky eclectic.  So far I just have this much spun:

the colorway is called dandelion.  I might just try to navajo ply this.   Boy after having the wheel for a while, spindle spinning just seems so sloooow.  At least I can do it while I'm outside watching the kids.  The neighbors think I'm crazy--all but the knitters and crochet-ers of course.  They are the ones who ask to touch!

a note:  i'm not sure why, but photobucket insists on squishin my pic.  apologies, i'm tyring to fix it.

Isanou- Wow, your yarn is really cool...but that's so weird, I spun up my first 2 ply this week and it has alot of your same colors, then it is plyed with random wool I got from my friends sheep >_< cool lol.

Betzi- That is soooo pretty Cheesy I love it, Spunky Fiber rocks XD!!! I dunno but photobucket does that to me too :-?

Here is my contribution. Still all done on my spindle no wheel yet, but I do have 170 saved up so far Smiley

I don't know what to call it, but this is the one that I think looks similar to Isanou's "Happy" this week...maby "Happies Twin" lol. It's my first ply, it's 2 ply and about 80 yards or so.

I've been dying alot lately(O_O odd saying that..lol) and here is some of the raw fiber I got from my friend, I was just test dying batches.

Grapelicious

and here is my first time spinning from my own Rolags...I think I need to practice making them lol, I keep getting tons of little slubby places even when I predraft like crazy but Oh well I like it for now Cheesy
(I assume since it is spun from rolags and is really fluffy it's considered a Woolen Yarn?)

That's all from me, can't wait to see everyone elses Cheesy Hope I didn't bore you to death LOL and comments welcome Cheesy

I've been ready Fiber Friday for some time now, this is my first time jumping in though!  Everyone's stuff is always so awesome.

theboythatspins - great job on your first plying! Better than mine for sure.  And I love the purple you dyed!

betzi - your's is gorgeous and I can not get singles that thin and even!

He's my little second plying attempt ever.

The run down-
Bright blue corriedale wool from The Flying Ewe and spun on my Viking Santa spindle. It was plied with a shiny bright green thread (that doesn't photograph well) on my Greensleeves Barebones. This skein ended up around 70 yards.

Pieknits, this is a wonderful color, so deep! I would love to swim in that color!

So after 10 amazing days in Italy I was itching to come back to my spinning wheel. I picked up some silk hankies in Florence in the cute little yarn shop and then had to beg customs to let me take them through. I'm working now and its my first time spinning silk. But here's 2 skiens that I finished as soon as I got home.
Superwash merino from sheep's shed 15 wpi about 400 yards navajo plied

I'm thinking of calling it "Portofino Corridor" because the colors remind me of this picture my bf took

Happy Fiber Friday the 13th! I've got some dramatic yarn in honor. But first, great yarns everyone!

Star217 - Pretty color! That name seems right. I love when there is a picture of an inspiration with the finished yarn - great!

Wool, alpaca, mill ends, sari silk:

Black and white wool, glitter crochet cotton, dominoes and buttons:

Black wool, holographic thread, seashells:

I love the picture of the dandelion singles & roving!

Strawberry Patch - merino plied with thread, with lots of squiggly green tendrils and big soft coils. The tendrils are kind of hard to see in the pictures - if you click on the second picture, it will take you to the flickr page, where I made notes showing where some of them are.

http://farm1.static.flickr.com/204/457836635_072ec385e4.jpg

Nessa - merino singles, with lots of different colors! Dark brown, orange, seafoam, olive green, pink, burgundy, lavender, navy blue, deep blue, sky blue, teal blue.

http://farm1.static.flickr.com/210/457871764_21cc8643be.jpg

Ephemera - silky-soft bamboo singles in shades of fawn, with bits of pink and green peeking through. And a random bit of red thread (I have lots of those around here, since I do a lot of sewing as well).

I love Portifino Corridor! The colours are very similar to the picture.
                          Here's my weekly offering:
Unified is an s twist spun single of camel, quiviut, buffalo, alpaca and wool. I absolutely love this skein it blended together so much better than I had expected.

feralfeminine, I love ephemera!  The colours are so peaceful.

I've got a few photos to share - they're not yarn, but made with my handspun.

This is Bun-Bun fully clothed.  The clothes are all hand spun (dress is wool, slik, and some nylon, the jacket is Shetland, and the bonnet, which you can't really see is green wool/mohair/angora plied with yellow silk)

And here she is in just the dress (as it's such a nice day today)

And a shot of her lovely tail! (And part of my collection of Spin-Offs).  I got the pattern from FuzzyMitten on etsy, along with a bunch of other patterns for other animals. The bonnet pattern I made up, and the dress came from the Siamese Kitten pattern.

And some roving I made using the Knitty tutorial this week.  They're made up of bits of everything, and are about an ounce each.  Actually, Bun-Bun's dress is made out of one of these rovings.

Hi everyone! I've been missing for a few weeks - I think I lost my spinning mojo for a while. I couldn't think of anything I really felt like doing until my package from Wingham Wool Work arrived and got me all dorky. Smiley Anyway, you guys blow me away every week - I absolutely love Polka Dot Bikini and Knitwit's Black with the shells, and Strawberry Patch and Tumblebloom, that's amazing! and ... well, I'd be here all day if I named every gorgeous thing on here! All that and an adorable bunny tail!

Here's what I've been up to for the last few weeks:

Almost Muddy, merino navajo plied, dyed with easter egg dye - I don't have the yardage on this one yet. I had imagined it all bright blues and yellows (kind of like Dandelion, actually) but the colors muddied up a bit. My mom likes it, so at least it'll have use somewhere:

Watermelon Lemonade, Kool-Aid dyed merino, 290 meters:

Jupiter, batts from Snapcrafty, merino, angora and sparklies, plied with two shades of pink thread, 132 meters (this is my favorite thing ever!):

Off To See The Wizard, more easter egg dyeing, which I'm spinning now with black angelina and plan to ply with black thread:

And just for fun, my cat using bags of wool for his pillow:

I also got a pair of hand carders which I love - I did some playing around with them and spun a small batch of yarn but I don't have any pictures of that yet.

Ok, I'm done, phew. I can't wait to see what other amazing things appear on here!

For some reason, the warmer it gets the more I want to spin. Weird I guess.

Angora 2.5 oz 140 yards, about 14-15 wpi, triple ply, wheel spun, long draw from the fold. This yarn was spun to knit cat toys from for my two cats since they both love rabbit fur but it was a real chore keeping them away while I was spinning. It's sorta weird squirting the cats with a water bottle to stay away from fiber that's going to eventually be made into something for them anyways. I gave it a wash and let it dry and it still has a bit of static charge to it, if you look close you might see some red mohair that's stuck to the skein.

Merino, 4 ozs each hank, double ply from a center pull ball, sport to heavy worsted thick and thin, spindle spun on a .9 oz 2" toy wheel spindle from the fold, modified long draw. All those who say you can't spin long draw on a drop spindle I say to you: whatcha talking bout willis!?. When it gets warmer out I walk around more and use the free time to spin some yarn. This yarn will be wrapped on a home made warping board like thingie and dyed.

Enough fuzzy pictures of white yarn, it's time for a fuzzy picture of dyed yarn:

4 ozs combined, somewhere around 90-100 yards, wheel spun, Brown Sheep Punta, thick and thin, plied with thread.

I called this one Iceberg. It's dyed with wilton dyes. I thought I would get a darker blue, but I think I just need to experiment a bit more (darn!) The lighting is crappy, and it's hard to see that theres over 200 yards there. I sent it off for a personal swap. I hope she likes it!

Here's my addition....blended a bunch of fun spring colors and then plied with silver thread.

I hadn't spun for months! Then I wandered here (hi Amy!) and saw all the wonderful skeins of goodness, I got inspired! So I spun up this soy silk that I won on ebay, and navajo plied.

I've been so busy sewing, but I think just to join in with all you awesome spinners, I'll be at my wheel more, no matter how crazy busy I feel!

Ooh, AishaCelia, that skein is luscious!!

Everything is great this week! I like all the bright fruit inspired ones. It's a nice antidote to the rain that's here.

I've been lurking her for a few months now, and refused to post any of my few, pathetic attempts at pinning on my friends turkish spindle. However, now I have a wheel and finally have something I like enough to show off.

Here is "swirl". It's hand dyed, cross breed wool, plied with white crochet cotton. There's matte grey sequins on the thread every 4 inches or so. There's hardly any of this, but I will find something to make with it if it kills me. Well almost.

And here is the roving that I dyed and is all predrafted ready to spin. I'm calling this one shallow waters, and plan to ply it with a aqua turquoise thread.

(I feel like I'm part of some club now. A friendly welcoming one, but a club no less.)

I dyed a bit this week,
Merino

a silk cap

I don't really wear purple of pink, but i have been noticing that a lot of the yarn I buy, and the stuff that I dye seems to want to be those colours...

The merino spun up into this; 50g, 220m

on the fine side, sockish to DK.

The silk is stull being spun, and it is fun  Grin. I think I may have found my fav fiber...

I LOVE everyone's yarns. I can't say I have a favorite, as they are all so awesome. I have obsessed...well maybe not obsessed...yeah actually obsessed is pretty accurate over Fiber Fridays I've only posted one other time and it was fairly bland yarn. This week I ordered from Sheep Shed and she sent a little extra which was begging to be spun immediately. So I did...It's for a swap I'm in so Knit_Core if you're reading this ...stop it.  Grin Anyway here it is

I call it Rohan 'cause it looks like the colors of the horses I used to have as a kid and our swap is LOTR themed. It's spun on an ashford drop spindle and plied with pink cotton thread. No idea of the content other than wool. No idea of the yardage either...ha some spinner I am.

Here's a close up

Here's my newest yarn.  Merino and SoySilk.  I've called it CandyRibbons.  18WPI, 2 ply, 250 yards.

Sorry I'm late guys! I've been at the fiber fair.  Wheee!

Here's my contribution for the week!

And the required close-up!

But what's that bit of blue?

My first blue ribbon! I was so excited!  Ok, so I should admit, I was the only entrant in the beginner's category.  I was STILL excited.  And the judge wrote some really flattering comments on the comment card, including a request for me to enter it into the state fair!
