sk8rgrll - brands of hair-colour can greatly affect the outcome of the colour. My personal favorites are stargazer (which I have to buy off ebay cause I can NEVER find it in Canada) and Special Effects.
For reference: Special Effects Atomic Pink and Atomic Pink mixed with Fishbowl (blue):

It's really one of the better brands on the market, and it lasts a LOOOOOONG time! I usually only re-colour every month and a half to two months. But, yes, I did have to bleach my very dark hair first.

You hair looks really good! Cheesy Mine came out really good. I just tried to find a pic of it but couldn't find any Sad It also lasted pretty long, about 2 months. I used this shampoo that was supposed to hold the color in to I bet that helped Tongue

stevie, i love you as a redhead! it looks awesome!

as for hairstyles, i think it looks good down like that! you have really pretty curls which is pretty lucky.
what about pulling back sections in the front almost like 1/2 up 1/2 down, but just pinning sections back? or pulling your bangs or front pieces back in a pomp or side pomp? or a reverse curl like in the show me your hair thread?

Do you think people with thin hair look better with short hair or long hair? I've had both and I have thin hair. I'm not sure if I should keep growing it out or cut it. Right now it's a few inches past my shoulders.

I also have thin hair.  I've found my hair looks better (and less thin) when it's shorter (chin length instead of past my shoulders).

Mine looks less thin when it's short, because the length of the hair doesn't weigh it down.

i think thin hair looks fuller when it's shorter. when it just touches your shoulers with maybe some layers in it. that'll bring some weight off the top section of hair on your head and give you a bit more volume at the top.

Ohhhhhhhh hair.

I have been a redhead now for aaaaaalmost 6 years and now I'm kinda wishing to be a brunette. Would dark brown hair work for me? I don't know if I have the coloring for it.

Please excuse the nerdy faces.

ETA: I was thinking along the lines of Zooey Deschanel's hair:

I'd say do up the bangs in a different colour, and leave the rest his natural colour. Eiher that, or go for ol' faithful - streaks Smiley

I think you could pull of brown, maybe even step as far as chestnut (which is fairly dark with lots of red tones), but I would shy from going TOO dark, especially around the face. I'm pretty pale (I have the complexoin of a redhead - really white and freckles) and the only way I can pull of anything dark is with something lighter around my face. If you go for a dark brown, try doing some light auburn or golden-blonde highlighs framing your face Smiley
