I believe that the hair + cancer thing has to do with Chemical dyes... not vegetable based dyes such as Special Effects/Manic Panic. And it is only proven to INCREASE YOUR CHANCES of getting cancer, not just give it to you all wrapped up with a neat little bow. XD

If anything, just worry about over bleaching your hair and damaging it. =P Other then that I think you are safe.

i think cancer wise - whatever (unproven) risk of cancer there may be from hair dyes - might as well stop eating all foods with hydrogenated fats in, everything with aspartame (so thats almost all diet foods & drinks,& yes, its a terrible additive), stop using deodorants, never inhale anyones cigarette smoke ever etc etc etc

check on no hydrogenated fats; double check for no aspartame; i use hippie (aluminum free!) deodorant; and only inhale second hand smoke maybe four times a year max, while clubbing. it can be done! yay. and yet it is no guarantee of being cancer free. nothing is. most diet crap is terrible for you, though--added sugar and fake flavoring. ick!

However, yeah. Hair dye is not going to give you cancer, as the lovely sulkycat delightfully pointed out. Neither is microwaving stuff in tupperware, for that matter. As stated above, if anything, worry about hair damage. Smiley
That said--sk8grll: OMGOMGOMGOMGOMG I LOVE YOUR SHADE OF BLUE. I have a wig in that color. Cheesy

cadillac.tramp also has delicious hair. i love the fade. delicious. delicious. deliiiciiious.  is it wrong that it makes me think of really awesome candy? i mean, like, it would be the best lollipop ever. i can taste the fake blue! yum.

sk8grll I like the blue. it is very similar to what I had.

My only suggestion is if you don't get the right shade you don't have to re-bleach it, just add the darker color on top.

I love my blue hair.. Tongue

I feel kinda guilty though because I have already planned out how my next two hair dye jobs are going to be.. Tongue

I'm also exited because our yearly 'prom' thing (well, it's the most formal ball of the year) at school is coming up in febuary. They have a thing where they vote people for different things like 'prettyest eyes', 'most sporty', 'happy maker' and stuff Tongue Anyways, one of the categories is HAIR! I'm so exited because I'll probably at least get nominated Cheesy That will be funn Cool

with every respect, i personally think the original question was as relevant as someone asking a health & safety question about, for example, acid etching or spray painting- all craft based

i can understand nobody wanting this forum to become page after page of medical advice, but i do feel the question was relevant- if hair dye is going to be counted a s a 'craft' then there will no doubt be the occasional health / safety related question

i obviously wont mention it again, & this post is not meant in any way to be antagonistic, so i hope it is not read as such

i agree with that too, is it just me or is craftster getting a loooooot more strict??    Huh people should be allowed to make the odd personal comment or conversation at long as it doesnt overtake the topic thats what made it such a good community in the first place!
