Show Off Your Hair--Dyed, Cut, or Styled by Yourself!

So, I hope you guys can help me with a little problem I have.

I have really, really, really curly hair.  I want to dye it a really funky color, but I'm not sure how it would look with my hair.  Ideas?



This is from Halloween last year, and minorly tamed.  It's normally much poofier.

Currently, it is a bit darker.



Pardon the crazy look.  This was right after Harry Potter 7, and I was tired. (Yes, I totally dyed my hair for Harry Potter.  I was Bellatrix Lestrange.)

So, would my hair look okay if it were purple or blue, or would I look like a clown?  Be honest.

Personally I think all-over bright color would be kind of crazy since you have so much hair.  But doing some chunks of a bright color and the rest more natural would look great!

Hi - I have very curly hair as well - and my love of all love is my diffuser - it really keeps down the frizz - I love it!!!! I also think all over color might be too much but big chunky color would look cool.

fluffybaka- I agree with Jillie and maasive.. all over would be a bit overwhelming.. my first thought for color on you was a warm color, like red or orange, etc to go better with your current color and your skin tone

Ok, remember me saying I'm a huge freak about my hair?

Throw that out the window. I was feeling impulsive, so I scheduled an appointment with my stylist and got it cut and highlighted. went from the really huge long fuzzy mess to:

You can see the highlights better in the second picture...they're coppery red, which works much better with my coloring than flat-out blonde. Platinum streaks in chestnut hair only works for certain people, and I am not one of them.

thanks! We probably won't be seeing TOO much of the style in the first pic because I can't bring myself to flatiron my hair every day (too lazy, for one, and it's just difficult for another). The second picture is my natural texture...wash, air-dry, add a little Fructis curl creme to avoid the frizzies. Imagine straightening that every day.

so i dyed the underside of my hair pink.  i left the dye in really long, but it still came out this light and it only lasted about a week.  i was a little disappointed, but i had mermaid pink hair for a couple of days at least.

xfoxglove, what brand dye did you use?  The N'Rage stuff from Sallys never lasts very long, so if you want it to stick, try wrapping the dyed part (right after you put the dye in) in plastic wrap and use the blow dryer to get your hair cuticles to open up and take the colour better.

The secret is more than a few who flat-iron only do it about once every three days, and yes they skip showering for two days :-o !!

This is sadly not an option, as I have daily soccer practice and there's no way in hell I'm skipping showers after those.
