here's how I did my hair for a wedding I went to.  it's a very easy and reliable updo - simply make a pony tail, twist small sections of hair until they double up on themselves, and pin them.  I have fairly long wavy hair (about 8 inches past my shoulders) and it makes a nice, compact bun.

I cut and dye my hair myself. I loves it. I am originally blonde.

And when I put it in pig tails.

It's temporary, cause my mom refuses to let me use permanent. But I mean, it's not going to wash out, and I dye it every month. Anywho, it's Loreal ColorSpa moisture actif and the color is auburn (26). I'd say it's a little darker than in the pictures, but I leave it in a little longer than suggested (for like 20 minutes, I think it says 15) because I like it dark. And of course it fades, but not much (not to orange like my last color I used, which I don't remember what that was). I dye it when I decide I can see too much of my roots, but I love this color, and it's real easy to prepare.

Anjanetteopal, I also have really fine, straight hair. Everyone always tells you to keep it short, but I'm actually growing mine out. If you like it long, don't listen to the "perfect cuts for blah, blah face shape, hair, etc" articles and websites. If you want a little more volume to don't want to lose the length, you can add some layers (which also makes it look like you have more wave in your hair). Adding some chin-length layers just around your face will also help "shorten" your face. Then those are easy to leave down or bobby pin up when you put your hair up.

Kairigurl, I'm also a natural blonde who decided to go auburn. Just about the same color too! I use henna and indigo on my hair. I think the red is so much fun!

Jezebel and detritus, thanks so much! My hair is layered a bit and it does help with body. I've been wary about layering any more b/c I don't want it to look thin, but I REEAALLY liked that last pic you posted, Jezebel, her hair is beautiful and though I would to top layers quite so short, I think you are right that it would suit my face.

Kairigurl: WTG on cutting your own hair! I'm completely impressed! The first time I cut my own hair it took me 5 hours and I still had to have a friend even it out. haha!

Right this is what my hairs been like.
My avatar thing was about 3 weeks ago.
And all these were yesterday.

I had the yellow for about an hour before getting sick of it.
It's now the last one but with loads of orange and yellow hairspray in instead
