I've had a few thousand pageviews for my site since it opened in February. I know this isn't a lot, and to top it all off, I haven't sold a single bag!

Any suggestions on how to get customers to my site? What would be the best way to advertise, in your opinion?

And is there somethting wrong with the products? The prices?

Okay, so I'm getting side-tracked. Main question: what is the best way to advertse for my online bags store?

Link swap with "similar" sites. (Text links are better than banners for the search engines)

Submit to directories. Dmoz.org being one. I never use the paid services though, just the free directories.

SEO - Search Engine Optimization.

Write Articles and submit to article directories.

Join and promote on myspace (you don't have to go tacky with lime green and flashing icons Wink)

Leave your link in forum signatures where allowed. I.e Join and post forums relating to your target audience.

Blog and link up with "blog friends"

That's all I can think of at the moment.... Hope it helps a little Smiley

4 suggestions that leap to mind...

  • FIX YOUR SIGNATURE LINK!!!
  • Add an About Me page. Give your potential customers a reason to believe you are a real person who can be trusted to come through with shipping the purse after they pay for it. How to write and About Me page has come up so often on Craftster that I wrote an article called, strangly enough Writing About Me  Wink. Hopefully it will give you a starting point.
  • Come check out the site in my signature.  Roll Eyes I get quite a few visitors looking for purses.
  • If you can make at least one tutorial on purse making or something related (eyeglass, i-pod, or some case that could be used in your purses). Quited a bit of the traffic I get on my site are folks initially searching for free patterns, but many of them also visit the sites that are selling finished products. The sites that offer both freebie patterns and stuff for sale are getting more action. It also gives the search engines more content to index which will bring more visitors to you directly.
