This was fun to make--my first around the post crochet.  I used Caron Simply Soft in Autumn Red.  I opted against adding the sleave--I like the capped look.  Enjoy.

thanks everybody.  i feel like now that i've figured out the whole "around the post thing" (which is not nearly as scary as i thought) there is a whole new world of patterns and projects i can do.  it's fun to keep learning and challenging myself.
