Here's 2/3rds of my first quilt top:

They're 1-inch squares from scraps I found in a bag in the refuse room of my apartment building. Right now, it's 2.5 feet wide and 4.75 feet long. It will end up about 4' x. 4.75', then I'll add a black border, maybe 3 inches, and bind with khaki bias tape.  To learn how to quilt and bind, I'm making a mini-quilt for practice. Here's what I've got on that so far (soliciting opinions in the Does this look weird? thread)

Wow - that top does look amazing!  I haven't done anything smaller than 2 inches, and that's quite a feat!!  I think it's going to look great when it's all quilted & bound.

Everyones quilts look amazing!!

After stalking this thread I am officially joining. I have various wips ranging from "ohhhh would this this and this be pretty in this pattern" to hand quilting a little play quilt for my daughter to use at the park. Maybe this can motivate me to stay on track.

MarysMom, let's see it!

I didn't like that second little one above, so I ripped out most of it and rearranged. Here's what the completed top looks like:

I tried to be random in the border, but obviously that didn't really work.  Next up is my first ever attempt at quilting. I'll just stitch in the ditch, no batting. My cat better appreciate it!

caecilia, I really like your new setting. The squares really frame the strings and gives it a more unified look than the mixed setting you had ealier.

Loving all the inspiration from this thread (and others). I have several tops needing borders, then they're ready for layering and quilting. Better be heading to my sewing room.....

I am so impressed with all the quilts everyone is making.  Can I tag along too?

I am working on two quilts for my girls (twin size) and a lap quilt for me.  I took a short break to make fabric bowls for Christmas and a tote bag.
