i loove handsewing/finishing binding, its my favorite part of the quilt. It just makes everything look so nice and finished. I'm finishing up the binding of a baby quilt that i need to send out tomorrow, as soon as it gets to its recipient (a fellow craftster) i'll post a picture!

And I suppose I should post the two quilts I've made so far! I am so lazy in the picture uploading department so here are the blog posts with piccies...

Here's my first quilt...single bed sized with dotty flannel backing,

And this one is more lap quilt sized because I had this piece of argyle flannel that I really wanted to use on the back but it wasn't very big Smiley

I *love* your quilts!  Of course, I'm partial to pink... but I love the funky fabrics you included.

Okay, I had to jump in because I have been lurking for a while and after reading everyone's posts was motivated to go finish a few projects!

So, I finished my friend Staci's quilt...

Please excuse my dog's big ol' head in the pic.

And my brother's wall hanging ( i know it is not "technically" a quilt)

It has 4 embroidered octopi on it.

And finally, my mom's dragonfly wallhanging (it had been folded up for so long I can't get the creases out!!  The sad part is all I had left to do was sew on the buttons for the eyes!)

Thanks for the motivation and letting me share!

Mimiw - your quilts & wallhangings are amazing.    Smiley Smiley :)You must must must start making things for yourself.  All that artwork out in the universe & none of it for you?   Huh That's a sin!

I love your use of color in the first quilt cools vs. warms.  And the dragonfly quilt is just .... really really wonderful!

Thanks so much!

I have decided that starting tonight I am going to start on a quilt for myself...I think Grin   I just seem to have so much less focus and motivation when I am making something for myself!

As a side note, one of my dogs (the nose in my avatar) is named Zuma.

Have a great day!

Well, I should correct myself and say that you should really just do what makes you happy & if quilting for others makes you happy, then there's nothing wrong with that.  I just think you deserve to have some of your own artwork.

LOL!  What is he named after?  I took my name from Zuma Beach, but I've heard there's also a game called Zuma.

Wow mimi! The first one is my favourite, just beautiful colours! I agree, the next one should be for you Tongue Although I know what you mean about motivation for making things for yourself...I also find myself cutting corners when making myself stuff, naughty!

Finally got around to taking some pictures...

It's ginormous, so these tiny pieces of it are the best shots I could get for now. There simply isn't anything in my house big enought to put it on! And it's wrinkly, from being folded and put away so many times. Forgive me.

Specs:
113 x 106" (king-ish)
rectangles are 4 x 7"
11 colored rectangles per row, and 9 colored rectangles across

The best part is....that every single rectangle is a different fabric! I got to use a ton of scraps and neat pieces from my stash. Chances are, if you've sent me fabric in a swap, ever, it's in this quilt.

And how many fabrics did I have to buy to achieve this? About six. And that's only cause I wanted to 'masculinize' it a bit. Between me and my mother, we have WELL over 100 different fabrics. Packrats, unite!

So far, I've got three 'columns' quilted. 6 to go...and did I mention I'm doing it by hand? My fingers are all kinds of funky right now.

This is a housewarming present for the future mr. avsceriline, for when we finally get a place together. I know it's not too exciting, as quilts go, but I am looking forward to snuggling under it one day.

Anyway....let me know what you think!
