I've been crocheting for a little less than a year. My mom taught me how to chain when I was little but I didn't know how to do anything else so I'd make 10-foot chains and then unravel them and make them again.  Smiley I learned how to do the rest last year from Happy Hooker.

hah! I love making chains then unravelling them.... theres something strangely gratifying about ripping a whole bunch of stitches out, except when you made those stitches and accidentally messed them up. Maybe thats why I like reclaiming old sweaters.. hmm...

Sometimes it's knit and sometimes it's crochet.

I wrote this pattern off when I saw it in the book -- "I am NOT making that!" -- but this is a different beast.

what were the final measurements? if you made the s/m i'm thinking i need the larger size with the changes you made.

That is gorgeous!  I have never heard of that book, but I'd like to look for it now, because that is the type of pattern I have been looking for.  Of course, I would need to modify it *UP* a size, probably, from what's written, but it looks like the type of pattern that might be easy to modify (nothing too unusual in the shaping).

I love the color you chose, too.

The bust and the waist ended up being about 32 inches around. It was originally tighter but I added border rows around the edge to make it a little bit wider/looser. It's still plenty snug, though.

Beautiful. I was just thinking about starting this pattern from the book today, but I think I will follow your modifications when I actually do get around to starting it.
